Our Story

Our story began, as many great modern tales do, with a simple introduction from a mutual friend. A casual lunch was planned. Meeting before the mutual friends arrived, a connection seemed to come to life as we sat down on the patio and started talking.

The lunch turned into five incredible days of on-stop talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. Before we knew it, it was time for the holiday break. André headed off to Thailand, and Frank went to visit his parents.

The distance only confirmed that there was something missing while we were apart.

The moment André returned from Thailand, there was no hesitation and the lunch had to continue. Frank accepted with great excitement, and well, as they say... André and Frank’s lunch never ended!

Welcomed with Love

The first few months were a whirlwind of excitement. We were both incredibly blessed with Family and Friends who immediately welcomed us with open arms, offering acceptance and unwavering support.

The real test came early in January when Frank was introduced to his future in-laws. Despite the nerves, everyone had a wonderful time, and the family immediately bonded with Frank. The relief and joy was immense!

Then, in early February, Frank, in a not-so-sober state, was the first to say those magic words: “Ek is lief vir jou!”

That was it! The beautiful, official beginning of our journey as a couple.

Together Through the Storm

The lockdown in March 2020 proved to be the ultimate test and, ironically, the best time for us. With nowhere to run or hide, we spent our days deep in conversation, cooking together, and truly getting to know every facet of each other's lives. We thrived!

In September 2020, it was André’s turn to meet his future in-laws and, thankfully, he received a clear nod of approval!

What followed was five more years filled with love and laughter.

We grew together, learning so much about each other and navigating life’s twists and turns as a united team.

The Big Surprise!

On a dune in the middle of the desert, Frank pulled off the ultimate surprise by getting down on one knee! André, who truly had no idea, was completely surprised and, of course, said YES!

We are so incredibly excited to celebrate this next chapter and share our special day with all of you on 14 March 2026!
